Joe Costello - Truth, Respect, Inclusivity, Support, & Hope
Joe Costello was a fun-loving soul who brightened the lives of those he encountered along the way. His quick wit, humor and kindness will be forever cherished. Joe passed away on June 30, 2022, at the age of 43 after a fierce battle with squamous cell lung cancer and metastatic disease.
To honor his heroic fight, family established the Joe Costello's T.R.I.S.H. Memorial Fund to assist others battling cancer and life-threatening illnesses with food, care and end-of-life decision making support. T.R.I.S.H. is an acronym for Truth, Respect, Inclusivity, Support & Hope. It is a nod to the name for his minivan and the mythical creature from the movie Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.
Joe's family will recommend grants to benefit select 501(c)(3) organizations in his memory that fall within the principles of T.R.I.S.H., such as The Denver Hospice, Project Angel Heart and NextFifty Initiative. These are all groups working to assist those in under-served and marginalized communities to have access to the love and care needed at life's most challenging times.
Joe and Jim Freelend, (son of Bob & Willa Freelend), were life partners for 18 years and spent many treasured times in Central City with family and friends. To honor Joe's impact and preserve his legacy, donations can be made to the Joe Costello's T.R.I.S.H. Memorial Fund below.
